Arsenal are expected to be active in the summer transfer window as they bid to build upon this season’s success
It’s no secret that a new left-winger is among Arsenal’s top summer transfer priorities – but a new central midfielder will not be far behind.
For now, the Gunners are firmly focused on winning a historic Double but behind the scenes, work on recruitment plans is already firmly underway.
Arsenal are facing a big decision at left-wing because to strengthen their options, one of Gabriel Martinelli or Leandro Trossard will surely have to depart.
Martinelli is the favourite given he attracted interest last summer and Trossard has once again underlined his importance in recent weeks with a string of improved performances.

The Brazilian has just one year remaining on his contract which also contains a 12-month extension option while Trossard’s deal expires in 2027.
PSG’s Bradley Barcola is expected to be among the names Arsenal consider in the summer transfer window alongside Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, who is also wanted by PSG and Barcelona.
But it’s also clear they will seek to bolster their midfield options. In recent days, strong links to West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes have emerged.
PSG and Manchester United have also held initial discussions with his representatives, though Fernandes is unlikely to come cheap, even if the Hammers are relegated.
His versatility and ability to play multiple positions would undoubtedly make him an attractive option and Arsenal are looking for a midfielder that can operate as both a No.8 and No.6.
Sandro Tonali is another name of admiration but Newcastle will drive a hard bargain and there is also interest from Manchester City, Manchester United and Italy.
Lille’s 18-year-old gem Ayyoub Bouaddi, who committed his international future to Morocco on Thursday, is another name on Andrea Berta’s radar.
The Gunners looked at Elche’s Rodrigo Mendoza in January but the youngster joined Atletico Madrid instead. However, this time around, Arsenal intend to plug what they feel is a small gap in their squad.
Christian Norgaard could well depart after just one season in north London due to a lack of playing time. There had been hope Norgaard was ready to fill the void of Jorginho but Mikel Arteta has frequently left the former Brentford captain out of matchday squads.
Meanwhile, an awkward decision is expected to be made over Ben White’s future. White had actually hit form prior to sustaining a serious knee injury at West Ham last weekend.
Now Arsenal will have to strongly consider signing another right-back as Jurrien Timber has also missed the past two months with a groin injury.
Both players have endured various fitness struggles this season and failing to sign adequate cover and competition would feel like a risky strategy this summer.
Arteta loves White and ultimately, it would be sad if he departed, but there’s a definite chance he could well be moved on following his recovery.
