A shooting was reported at Scissortail Park at 300 SW 7th Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on Saturday. The news of the shooting was reported on by local journalists.
“SHOTS FIRED AT SCISSORTAIL PARK. 5.16,” Shelby Love of News9 reported. Lacie Lowry, a local news anchor reported that police had confirmed that one gunshot victim was at the hospital. “Oklahoma City Police are at the scene of Scissortail Park in downtown Oklahoma City after someone reported gunshots. Our news crew responded to the scene and while they were getting video, they heard additional gunshots and saw police run from the scene to investigate,” she wrote.
Multiple people have reportedly been detained. Police are reportedly trying to figure out what unfolded. The reporter also shared a photo from the scene which showed heavy police presence.
Local channel KFOR meanwhile reported the Oklahoma City Police say that two people had been arrested in connection to two different shootings in the downtown area on Saturday.

The first reportedly took place near West OKC Blvd. and Hardy Avenue, and one person was grazed by a bullet. The second was reportedly near the Paycom Center and no one was hurt in this case. As per the cops, they reportedly arrested two suspects and recovered two guns. The local publication had initially reported that a person had been grazed by a bullet after several shots were fired near Scissortail Park. The incident reportedly went down sometime around 8pm.
However, the Oklahoma City Police Department is yet to officially comment on the matter.

One person shared photos of police presence near Scissortail Park and said crime scene tape had been put up there. “What the hell have the kids just done at Scissortail Park to have All these police over here. Now yall shooting & caution tape is up,” they wrote.
Several reacted to the news of the shooting as well. “See #okc can’t act right. Gun shots at the Scissortail park. Smdh. Why I sit on my porch lol,” one person wrote. Another added “Shooting at scissortail park.” Yet another said “Shooting at scissortail park is wild smh. This is getting out of hand…”.
Narrating what they saw, and individual added “Just saw a bunch of people charge and then shoot each other in the park like within the line of sight near a bunch of children too while in Scissortail park. People are evil. Selfish. Can’t go anywhere anymore. Everyone in our party is okay. Something to be grateful for.”
Another exclaimed “This is crazy, they are shooting at scissortail park now?!”.
Some expressed fear at the news of the shooting and said “And on Sunday’s there’s usually alot of families out there, we would’ve been 1 of them but we’re taking a break on being out in big crowds or busy areas right now! Recently it’s been chaos after chaos & many innocent victims or bystanders getting hurt…”. Another chipped in, saying “Attended my granddaughter’s high school graduation from Oklahoma Virtual Charter Academy at Crossroads Church on Shields Blvd today. As I was going in – I raised my arms to be scanned up and down for weapons. I’m 74 years old. I looked at the officer and said “thank you for keeping us safe.” It makes me sad that it’s come to this to attend an exciting event. Even different since my daughter graduated in 1998.”
