The Nigeria Football Coaches Association (NFCA), Ogun State chapter, celebrated leadership, service, and football development at its Leadership Summit and Leadership Award ceremony held on May 13, 2026, at the prestigious CIBN Banquet Hall, Babcock University, Ilisan Remo.
One of the major highlights of the event was the recognition of the immediate past chairman of the association, Coach Olaseinde Bankole, fondly known within football circles as “Zico.”

The respected tactician received a Distinguished Leadership Award in recognition of his remarkable contributions toward building a strong and stable foundation for the NFCA in Ogun State.
Coach Bankole’s presence, support, and commitment to football development did not go unnoticed, especially for his role in repositioning the association and promoting unity among coaches across the state. During his tenure, the association experienced structural growth, improved collaboration, and stronger engagement within the football coaching community.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Sports247Naija shortly after receiving the award and a standing ovation from attendees, the former chairman expressed gratitude and satisfaction over the progress made during his administration.
“All thanks to God. It is one thing to succeed, and it is another privilege to have a good successor,” Coach Bankole said.
Reflecting further on his leadership journey, he confidently stated:
“I have set a solid foundation and as a strategic leader, my efforts will always be remembered for good.”
His comments drew applause from participants at the summit, many of whom acknowledged his impact on football coaching development in Ogun State.
In a moment that further highlighted unity within the football community, Coach Bankole invited Coach Olufemi Bamigboye to join him in the celebration. Coach Bamigboye, a former Vice Chairman of the NFCA Ogun State chapter, currently serves as a Board Member and Chairman of Youth Football in the Ogun State Football Association.
The summit attracted coaches, football administrators, sports stakeholders, and award recipients from different parts of Ogun State. Discussions centered on leadership, mentorship, football development, and the importance of building sustainable structures for future generations.
Stakeholders at the event described the maiden edition of the summit as a major success and a positive step toward promoting professionalism, excellence, and recognition within the football coaching profession in Ogun State.
