Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused the United Arab Emirates on Thursday of playing an “active” role in the US-Israeli war against Iran.
Speaking during the BRICS summit in India, Araghchi said: “The UAE is an active partner in this aggression, there is no doubt about that.”
He added that it had become clear to Tehran that the UAE participated in attacks against Iran and “may even have acted directly” against the country.
Araghchi also referred to reports issued by the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding an alleged secret meeting with UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, which Abu Dhabi denied had taken place.
“The UAE was directly involved in the aggression against my country,” Araghchi said, adding that Abu Dhabi had failed to condemn the attacks when they began.
Relations between Iran and the UAE have sharply deteriorated since the outbreak of the US-Israeli war on Iran on 28th February, which was followed by Iranian retaliatory attacks targeting Israel and Gulf states allied with Washington.
Despite the ceasefire announced on 8th April, Iranian state media and officials have continued accusing the UAE of involvement in military operations against Iran.
Earlier this month, the UAE accused Iran of carrying out a drone attack targeting oil and gas facilities in Fujairah, allegations Tehran denied.
Iran has repeatedly accused Gulf countries of allowing American forces to use their territory and airspace to launch attacks, while Gulf governments have consistently rejected those claims.
