Arsenal, PSG and Barcelona are all interested in signing Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez
Paris Saint-Germain may hold a crucial advantage over Arsenal in the race for Julian Alvarez – because they have two players of interest to Atletico Madrid.
It’s understood Atletico are trying to negotiate a new contract with the Argentine, who is on the verge of concluding his second season in Madrid under Diego Simeone.
In any case, Atletico do not want to sell the former Manchester City starlet and would seek to drive a hard bargain if the striker personally pushed for a transfer behind the scenes.
If that happens, the final fee could well exceed £100million but interestingly, PSG do have some potential makeweight on their books that could sweeten a deal with Atleti.

Winger Lee Kang-in and Goncalo Ramos are both pushing to leave PSG this summer and per reports in Spain, Atleti like the duo.
Kang-in has been on Atletico’s radar for some time now having previously played in Spain with Valencia and Mallorca.
PSG would like to add Alvarez and Maghnes Akliouche to their squad, though that could mean parting company with Bradley Barcola.
It means there is a high likelihood of summer trading at the Parc des Princes but Alvarez is their dream target of choice.
Arsenal are keen on the attacker too and they were interested in signing Alvarez before his transfer to Atletico.
The sticking point is he is already a two-time Premier League champion and he previously struggled to adapt to life in England, instead preferring to continue his career in Spain.
PSG and Arsenal could both offer him the chance to compete for major trophies and the Gunners’ interest is being driven by the man who brought him to Spain – Andrea Berta.
Any deal will be tough to conclude, not least because Barcelona could also enter the fray if they are able to raise cash through player sales.
However, at the moment, PSG are emerging as strong contenders for the 26-year-old’s signature and there can be no question they have the financial muscle to make it happen.
Arsenal would need to sell players before completing a transfer deal of this magnitude. They oversaw a record window of spending last summer and previously signed Declan Rice for £105m back in 2023.
Given it’s also a World Cup year, Alvarez’s future is a saga that could last all summer.
