US and China begin trade talks in South Korea ahead of Trump visit

Delegations from China and the United States began economic and trade consultations in South Korea on Wednesday ahead of President Donald Trump’s arrival in Beijing later in the day, according to Xinhua News Agency.

Xinhua said the talks were taking place at Incheon International Airport near Seoul before scheduled meetings between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Thursday and Friday.

The discussions come amid ongoing tensions over trade, global energy markets and the conflict involving Iran.
