Concerning update on New York Giants star Malik Nabers during ACL recovery

New York Giants star Malik Nabers recently underwent a second surgery on his knee seven months after suffering a torn ACL, according to reports.

Nabers first had ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) and meniscus surgery at the end of October after landing awkwardly on his right knee during the Giants’ Week 4 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers last season.

Yet according to The Athletic’s Dan Duggan, the Pro Bowl wide receiver went under the knife again ‘multiple weeks ago’ in order to remove scar tissue that was causing stiffness.

The second op is believed to have just been a ‘clean up’ and is not expected to have any affect on his recovery timeline, with the Giants still hopeful that he will be ready in time for their 2026 opener.

Nabers, who was selected by New York with the sixth overall pick in 2024, recently questioned the team’s selections in the 2026 NFL Draft.

The ‘Big Blue’ stunned fans by opting for Arvell Reese at No. 5 and Francis Mauigoa at No. 10 in the first round, snubbing Ohio State star Caleb Downs in the process.

Downs then went at No. 11 just one pick later after the Dallas Cowboys traded up for the highly-rated safety. Some fans labelled it the ‘steal of the NFL Draft’.

Nabers took part in a watch-along live stream for the Draft and was left stunned as he watched it unfold, questioning his own team’s picks.

‘Don’t get me wrong I love the player, but like, where do you play?’ he asked about Reese. ‘You want to be on the outside and rush, but we just drafted somebody last year to that same position.’

However, head coach John Harbaugh, who is entering his first season in charge in New York, played down any concerns over Nabers’ outburst.

‘We had a great conversation with that,’ Harbaugh said. ‘Like came in the next morning, sat up there and we were talking about it. He made himself clear.

‘It’s like you even said, if you go back and you watch it, I appreciate kind of where he’s coming from. I mean, you’re in a podcast, you’re talking ball and he’s just like, well, how do they got to use the guy? How’s he going to play? … It’s like he said, “I was curious about how you’re going to use him.”

‘And I showed him how we’re going to use him and he’s fired up about it, but I appreciate it.’
