Star receiver Nico Collins makes bold statement about his Texans future after links to blockbuster trade

With a major contract decision on the horizon for Houston Texans star Nico Collins, the wide receiver is making it clear what his intentions will be for his future. 

Collins is entering the second season of a three-year extension from his rookie deal.

The 2021 third-round draft choice out of Michigan has an opt-out clause that he could trigger before the start of the 2027 season, meaning the Texans will likely try to get an answer on his future soon.

But even though his future is up in the air at the moment, Collins made it clear that he’d like to stay in the Bayou City.

‘I love the Texans,’ the receiver told KPRC 2 in Houston. 

‘I got drafted here. It’s somewhere I want to end. I love the city, the people, the community.

Collins has consistently been one of the best wide receivers in the NFL since debuting in 2021

‘There’s a lot of great positive vibes coming out of the city of Houston. So, it’s definitely a place I would like to retire.’

Rumors linked Collins to a possible trade away from the organization that executives almost instantly shot down.

General manager Nick Caserio told other teams to ‘shove it’ when it came to trying to acquire the receiver.

Collins has been a top-10 receiver in the league for receiving yards in two of the last three seasons.

Last year, he was tied for ninth with 1,117 yards while also hauling in six touchdowns.
