Gaza: Mothers face triple threat of famine, displacement and loss of children

Amid torn tents and exhausted children, mothers in the Gaza Strip are facing an increasingly harsh humanitarian reality marked by hunger, displacement and the loss of children and husbands.

In overcrowded displacement camps, where teared tents stand beside the memory of destroyed homes, childhood has become overshadowed by hunger and fear. Many mothers have lost both their children and husbands, while struggling to survive in extremely difficult conditions.

On Mother’s Day, marked on Sunday in several countries including Turkey, Anadolu highlighted the suffering of mothers living in displacement camps in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis.

Many of the women are trying to survive after losing family members and homes, while living in conditions that fall far below basic human dignity.
