NWFL Matchday 18 Top Performer Nominees Revealed After Dramatic End to Regular Season

The curtain has officially fallen on the regular season of the NWFL Premiership, with Matchday 18 delivering decisive moments, relegation drama, and standout individual performances across various centres.

Among the top nominees for the final Matchday Performer of the Week award is Chimebere Opara of Heartland Queens, who emerged as the hero in her side’s clash against Adamawa Queens. Opara struck dramatically in the 88th minute to hand Heartland Queens a crucial victory in their final game of the regular campaign.

Joke Adeyemo of Ekiti Queens also earned nomination after scoring the decisive goal in a memorable victory over defending champions Bayelsa Queens. Her composed finish proved enough to secure one of the surprise results of the round.

For Dannaz Ladies, Fatimoh Solaty delivered when it mattered most, scoring in a tense Southwest derby against Remo Stars Ladies to help secure the club’s top-flight survival.

Loveth Edeh of Ahudiyannem Queens produced the decisive moment in the Abia derby, netting the winner against Abia Angels in a hard-fought contest. Also nominated is Titilayo Aweda of Delta Queens, whose first-half brace inspired a dominant performance against Osun Babes.

Completing the shortlist is Oluwakemi Adegbuyi of FC Robo Queens, who capped another strong outing with a goal in her side’s victory over fellow Super Six qualifiers Nasarawa Amazons.

With the regular season concluded, attention now turns to the Super Six, where the league’s top teams will battle for the championship crown.
