The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has congratulated their qualification for this year’s FIFA U-20 women’s World Cup in Poland.
The Falconets sealed their qualification despite losing 2-1 to Malawi in the second leg of the final round, going through on a 3-2 aggregate scoreline.
Malawi cancelled out the Falconets’ 2-0 first leg lead thanks to goals from Faith Chimzimu in the 9th and 56th minute.
But in the 62nd minute Precious Oscar scored the crucial away goal which was enough to send the team to its 12th appearance at the World Cup.
Commenting on the qualification, CAF wrote on their X handle:”History stays intact. 🇳🇬
“The Falconets have officially qualified for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, never missing a single edition. 👏.”
