Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir said there are “no restrictions on the use of force” in operations against Hezbollah during a visit to southern Lebanon on Wednesday.
Zamir made the remarks during a tour of Khiam alongside senior commanders from the Israeli army’s Northern Command, as cross-border attacks and military raids continued despite the fragile ceasefire.
According to Israeli military statements, forces in the north are continuing operations aimed at defending Israeli towns, eliminating threats and intensifying strikes against Hezbollah positions.
Addressing officers and soldiers, Zamir said troops had full access to the army’s capabilities and instructed them to continue identifying and targeting Hezbollah fighters in the field.
He claimed that since the war began on 2nd March, Israeli forces have killed more than 2,000 Hezbollah fighters, adding that the military intends to intensify operations to further weaken the group.
Zamir also said Israel sees a “historic opportunity” to reshape the regional landscape amid the ongoing multi-front conflict, noting continued coordination with the United States military.
He added that Israel remains prepared for a broader confrontation and claimed that additional targets inside Iran have already been identified.
During the visit, Zamir said Israeli forces had inspected a Hezbollah tunnel located about 25 metres beneath a children’s clothing store, which he cited as evidence that Hezbollah operates within civilian areas.
