Iran has not yet formally responded to the latest proposal from the United States, describing parts of it as “unacceptable”, Tasnim News Agency reported an informed Iranian source as saying.
The source said ongoing American media messaging was aimed at justifying what he described as US President Donald Trump’s retreat from recent hostile actions, adding that “the language of force and threats” had proven ineffective against Iran and had instead worsened the situation.
According to the source, Tehran had previously submitted a 14-point proposal through Pakistani mediators, which he described as “reasonable and logical”. He said the US later presented its own plan, but Iran paused its review after what he called renewed American hostility.
The source added that Tehran resumed studying the proposal following what he described as Trump’s withdrawal and would communicate its position to mediators once a final conclusion is reached.
Earlier, Trump threatened Iran with “massive bombing” if it rejected the proposal intended to end the war.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said there was a “very high probability” Iran would accept the agreement, adding that approval would bring an end to “Operation Epic Wrath” and reopen the Strait of Hormuz to all shipping, including Iranian vessels.
He warned that if Iran refused the proposal, military strikes would resume “at a much higher level and with greater intensity than before.”
