Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. has issued a fiery response to ex-girlfriend Madison Pettis after the former Disney Channel star branded him a ‘psychopath.’
Porter, 27, dated the actress, also 27, in their younger years from 2016 to mid-2017 before going their separate ways seemingly on a sour note.
During an appearance on the In Your Dreams with Owen Thiele podcast in March, Pettis was explaining how she watches basketball to unwind in the evenings when she brought up her NBA-player ex.
‘When we dated, he was in high school and college. I broke up with him before he was in the league because he was a psychopath,’ she said.
Weeks on from her brutal podcast rant, Porter Jr. has fired back at Pettis and questioned why she is bringing up his name 10 years later.
‘That was crazy,’ he said about being labeled a ‘psychopath’ on the One Night with Steiny podcast, which is hosted by online personalities Aaron Steinberg and Celina Powell, after initially referring to Pettis as ‘what’s her name.’

‘I wasn’t feeling that at all because, bro, we dated for what, three months, and nothing happened crazy.’
‘I don’t know why 10 years later she’s getting on a podcast talking about, “He’s a psychopath.” She’s scaring all the jawns away,’ Porter added.
‘But come on bro, like 10 years later… I’m 16 or 17 [during the relationship], I don’t even think I lost my virginity yet dawg. Not till college.’
Porter also revealed that he first met Pettis, who has previously starred in The Game Plan, Cory in the House and He’s All That, when she messaged him on Instagram after seeing that Steph Curry had given him a birthday shoutout.
The former couple attended the Radio Disney Music Awards in Los Angeles together back in 2017 before they split.
Pettis did not elaborate further on why she described him as a ‘psychopath’ during her podcast rant.
‘I do think a lot of athletes are not great partners, but I wouldn’t rule it out because I do love what they do,’ she said about the prospect of becoming a ‘basketball wife’ one day.
‘I would have respect for them and love to talk to them about their passion.’

Porter, who was drafted by the Denver Nuggets in 2018, was traded to the Nets last summer
Porter was drafted by the Denver Nuggets with the No. 14 overall pick in the 2018 NBA draft.
The forward, who won an NBA Championship with the Nuggets in 2023, was traded to the Nets last summer.
Shortly after arriving in New York, Porter sparked controversy when he discussed relationships and women on the One Night with Steiny podcast.
‘I don’t mind providing for you, I don’t mind doing that,’ said the Nets star, who has $115million in career earnings. ‘You can stay at the crib, you can do your thing. You gotta bring something to the table.
‘Positivity, you gotta help me mentally, you gotta be able to cook or something,’ he continued. ‘You gotta bring something to the table… look, what value are you bringing to my life? That’s the way I look at it now.’
