Israeli military orders evacuations in 11 south Lebanon towns

The Israeli military warned residents of 11 towns and villages in southern Lebanon to evacuate immediately and move at least 1,000 metres away to open land.

The military said, “Hezbollah has violated the ceasefire agreement and we will act forcefully against it,” naming areas including Al-Duwayr, Arab Salim, Al-Sharqiyah Al-Nabatiyya, Jebchit, Raashit, Sarifa, Dounin, Bariqah, Qaqaiyat Al-Jisr, Al-Qasiba Al-Nabatiyya and Kfar Sir.

Al Jazeera Arabic reported that Israeli artillery shelling targeted the outskirts of Zawtar al-Sharqiya and Mayfadoun following the warnings.

The developments come amid continued tensions despite a ceasefire in place since 17 April.
