The president of Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod has called for immense backing from corporate bodies and stakeholders of the sport towards a successful hosting of an African championship in Badagry.
Sports247 reports that Nimrod acknowledged huge support over the years from esteemed Nigerians and some companies, but stressed that more effort is needed, now that Nigeria is set to host a major continental competition in July.
He disclosed that the NVBF is already intensifying preparations towards staging a flawless championship that reflects Nigeria’s growing status in African volleyball, then averred that all hands must be on deck to make it work.
Nimrod added that he is happy with some encouraging results that have recently been recorded by Nigeria’s volleyball national teams and clubs on continental assignments, which he says has boosted the country’s impact in Africa.
However, with a major hosting responsibility ahead of the NVBF, Nimrod stressed that unflinching support is needed from all Nigerians, to ensure that the momentum continues and sustains the identity being created through performance, partnership and ambition.
“As we prepare for the continental championship in Badagry, we are fully ready as a federation, but hosting comes with responsibility. We need collective support to make it a success. This is an opportunity to showcase Nigeria, not just as participants but as leaders in African volleyball,” Nimrod submitted.
