NATO fighter jets scrambled close to UK as Kremlin warns of 'nuclear apocalypse'

Two Tu-95MS aircraft, hulking Russian warplanes known as ‘Bears’ capable of delivering strategic nuclear weapons, were spotted on a mission close to the UK

The Kremlin warned of the threat of “nuclear apocalypse” as Russian strategic bombers staged a show of strength over the seas north of Britain.

The Tu-95MS aircraft can be seen in footage on their mission over the Barents and Norwegian Seas which lasted for more than seven hours.

The Russian defence ministry confirmed that NATO fighters were scrambled to intercept and monitor the massive warplanes, known as “Bears”.
