Enzo agent speaks out over Madrid rumours
Rumours linking Enzo Fernandez with a summer transfer to Real Madrid from Chelsea are refusing to go away, and the player’s agent, Javier Pastore, has revealed why the World Cup winner is often found visiting the Spanish capital.
“A lot of things are being said… but the truth is, nothing’s really happening. He’s focused on finishing strong at Chelsea. It’s true he’s made some comments that weren’t entirely appropriate at the time, but he didn’t say anything out of the ordinary. He simply talked about Madrid, which he really likes,” Pastore told AS.
It was pointed out to the Argentine that this has been interpreted as a ‘come-and-get-me’ plea to Los Blancos.
“Whenever he has a day off, he comes to Madrid because I’m there and because he has friends there. But that’s all it is; nothing more. The goal is to finish the year well at Chelsea, have a good World Cup, and then we’ll see,” the agent explained.
Chelsea set Jackson asking price
Chelsea believe Nicolas Jackson is worth €70 million as they prepare for the Senegal international to return to the club following his loan spell at Bayern Munich.
Bayern had agreed a deal with Chelsea last summer to have the option to sign Jackson permanently for €65m after his loan spell but the German giants confirmed last week that they would not be exercising the clause.
Both Juventus and Newcastle have been linked with a summer swoop for the 24-year-old in recent days and The Athletic now report that Chelsea will ask for €70m (£60m) to sell Jackson this summer.
They reportedly believe that his value hasn’t diminished during his spell at Bayern, despite the fact he has only racked up 1,152 minutes of action this term, although the west London giants will wait until they appoint a new permanent manager before making a final decision on Jackson’s future.
Mourinho impacting Chelsea manager job
Jose Mourinho could inadvertently stop Chelsea from appointing one of their top managerial targets if he joins Real Madrid this summer.
The 63-year-old has emerged as Florentino Perez’s preferred candidate for the permanent role at the Bernabeu, following the sacking of Xabi Alonso earlier this year, and a deal could be finalised after the conclusion of the 2025-26 season.
In preparation for his departure, the Portuguese giants have now identified Fulham head coach Marco Silva as a top target, according to a report from Record.
News that Silva is wanted as Mourinho’s replacement by Benfica will come as a blow to Chelsea, who have reportedly identified him as a possible permanent successor to Liam Rosenior.
Barcelona recommended to sign Pedro
Chelsea are on alert after Barcelona were told that Joao Pedro would be a better signing for them than Julian Alvarez despite the Atletico Madrid striker being top of their shortlist.
The Catalan side will be in the market for a new striker this summer as a long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski and Pedro’s impressive debut campaign for Chelsea should make him the top choice, according to former Barcelona striker Bojan Krkic.
“Joao Pedro is ideal for the Barça system,” Krkic told Cadena SER “I would bet on Joao Pedro rather than Julián, I like him more. Overall, Julián is still a great player.”
“[Pedro] finishes, he plays well, he is very complete. He is similar to Julián but he is more of a goal scorer and a better player.”
Pochettino opens up about Chelsea exit
Former Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has admitted he left the club because his vision did not match with the club’s.
Pochettino, who also revealed the only players he was active in signing were Axel Disasi and Cole Palmer, suggested to The Overlap that the brief had changed from when he was hired in the summer of 2023 to when he was sacked a year later in 2024.
Pochettino, when asked if he had understood the Chelsea chiefs’ plan, said: “What I understood, didn’t happen after. Maybe I was wrong.
“Why I think I am disappointed with internal things is, under our assessment and our vision, it was a normal process to create something solid for the future.
“But when things didn’t match what was our vision, we said it’s better to split, it’s better to give the possibility to the club to do what they want. I’m not complaining because the decision was my decision to leave the club.”
