Iran has issued a chilling threat to launch an “unprecented attack” against Donald Trump’s blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.
Quoting a security source, Iranian Press TV said “the continued American maritime piracy and banditry in the form of so-called ‘naval blockade’ will soon be met with ‘practical and unprecedented military action'”.
The Iranian media also said the closure of the Strait of Hormuz by the US “is, in essence, American maritime banditry”.
Press TV also added: “The high-level source further warned that a continued American blockade and closure of the Strait of Hormuz might ultimately harm the US more than Iran and that a decisive response is deemed necessary by the top military command to completely discredit even this remaining American option.”

Earlier this week, Iran put forward a fresh proposal in the table that could see its war with the United States come to an end, with the peace plan offering a glimmer of hope for a potential breakthrough in stalled peace talks between the two nations.
Key disagreements between the warring nations, especially the one linked to nuclear talks, still threaten to derail any deal put forward, with the US offering no indication it will accept the latest proposal.
In its proposal, Tehran used Pakistani mediators to present Washington with a new plan that would see the Strait of Hormuz reopened, Axios reported, with the deal understood to be willing to lift the naval blockade and to end hostilities in the Middle East.
Under this proposal, which has reportedly been cited by one US official and two other sources with knowledge of negotiations, Iran’s nuclear programme would be delayed until after shipping routes through the crucial waterway are fully restored.
But Mr Trump, repeatedly issued what were described as “maximalist” demands aimed at permanently dismantling Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
The US president has made clear his core position that “Iran will never have a nuclear weapon”, insisting that Tehran hand over its stockpiles of uranium and that it halt its enrichment of the dangerous chemical element entirely. The White House has confirmed it has received Iran’s proposal but has not indicated whether it is willing to accept the terms.
Meanwhile, Mr Trump issued a new threat to Iran. Taking to the social media platform Truth Social on Wednesday, the US President published a picture of himself holding a weapon while explosions erupt in the background. The image, seemingly AI-generated or modified with a graphic programme, was accompanied by the caption “No more Mr. Nice Guy!”.
It also came with a message which read: “Iran can’t get their act together. They don’t know how to sign a non-nuclear deal. They better get smart soon!”
