Victor Osimhen could be set for a blockbuster transfer to Arsenal this summer after director Andrea Berta was spotted in Istanbul to watch the Galatasaray striker in action.

Osimhen has been a prolific star since joining the Turkish giants initially on loan in 2024 before completing a €75 million permanent move from Napoli last summer.

The 27-year-old has long-been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal historically among the teams touted to sign him, and AS report that Berta watched Galatasaray’s derby against rivals Fenerbahce on Sunday with the ‘primary objective’ to see Osimhen in person.

It is claimed that Berta ‘obtained first-hand information through Galatasaray’s management about Osimhen’s potential departure, with the Arsenal director pictured speaking to Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek.

Along with Osimhen, Berta is reported to have two more Galatasaray players on his shortlist in goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir and forward Baris Alper Yilmaz.

Osimhen netted his 13th league goal of the campaign in a 3-0 win, with Yilmaz also scoring from the spot, giving Berta and Arsenal plenty of fuel for thought ahead of the summer transfer window.

Arsenal finally ready to take Osimhen plunge after long-term Premier League interest

Arsenal appear to have revived their interest in Osimhen, having previously opted against signing the Nigerian international in previous windows due to his salary demands and the overall financial package of a deal.

Osimhen had been vocal over his desire to move to the Premier League but, despite interest from the Gunners, Chelsea and Manchester United in recent years, a deal never materialised, leaving Galatasaray as the only European team able to match the 27-year-old’s demands.

Despite still having three years remaining on his contract and regularly stating his happiness in Istanbul, Osimhen could be tempted by a return to an elite European league should the option arise.

However, Galatasaray would likely seek to make profit on their talismanic forward and demand a fee exceeding Osimhen’s €76.7m Expected Transfer Value (ETV.)

Verdict: One to watch

Any move for Osimhen or Yilmaz would likely depend on Galatasaray’s demands over a fee and whether Arsenal cash in on the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus, both of whom have been linked with exits this summer.

Yilmaz, meanwhile, has eight goals and ten assists this season while playing as a left winger and striker – a profile which Arsenal are hoping to invest in this summer to bolster their attacking options.

Although a move for another goalkeeper in Cakir would prove surprising given the 30-year-old’s age and with Galatasaray paying €27.5m for the Turkish number one.

Having spent €75m on Viktor Gyokeres last summer, Arsenal are keen to add more firepower to compete with the Swede and a deal for an elite striker in Osimhen could now develop as Mikel Arteta seeks to continue evolving his title-challenging side.
