CNN reported that US President Donald Trump is unlikely to accept a proposal from Iran, citing officials familiar with internal discussions.
The report said Trump outlined his views during a meeting with senior national security officials, with one source saying acceptance of the proposal was “unlikely”.
US officials told CNN that reopening the Strait of Hormuz without addressing uranium enrichment could weaken Washington’s leverage in negotiations.
A White House aide said the administration “will not make an agreement unless it puts the interests of the American people first”, while officials also raised questions about who holds final decision-making authority in Tehran.
