Tottenham are concerned that they may have lost another one of their first team players for the season to injury in Dominic Solanke.
Solanke hobbled off after 40 minutes of Spurs’ win against Wolves on Saturday – a vital victory that allowed them to keep pace with rivals West Ham in the race for Premier League survival.
He started the game after an injury-hit campaign that has seen him make just 20 appearances in all competitions. He returned from a lengthy ankle issue in January, but is now set for another spell on the sidelines.
Reports suggest Solanke may have picked up a grade two hamstring tear, with recovery time typically three to eight weeks. There is, therefore, a chance that he could yet play a part this season.
The forward has also been in the running to be Harry Kane’s understudy at the World Cup this summer for England, having been competing with Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the latest camp.
But his hopes of making it to North America are now in doubt, with the competition just 44 days away – a little over six weeks.

Solanke joins the likes of Xavi Simons on the injury list at Spurs, with the midfielder out until 2027 after injuring his ACL in the same game.Â
Simons had been a key man for Roberto De Zerbi since the Italian’s arrival at the club and scored a stunning goal in the 2-2 draw with Brighton last weekend.
His absence will be felt as Spurs battle for survival in the Premier League. The victory at Wolves was not enough to lift them out of the drop zone after Callum Wilson scored a stoppage-time winner for West Ham against Everton.
In a statement on Instagram, Simons said: ‘They say life can be cruel and today it feels that way. My season has come to an abrupt end and I’m just trying to process it. Honestly, I’m heartbroken. None of it makes sense.
‘All I’ve wanted to do is fight for my team and now the ability to do that has been snatched away from me… along with the World Cup. Representing my country this summer…just gone. It’ll take time to find peace with this, but I’ll continue to be the best teammate I can be. I have no doubt that together we’ll win this fight.
‘I’ll walk this path now, guided by faith, with strength, with resilience, with belief, as I count down the days to getting back out there.’Â
Also out for the rest of the campaign is club captain Cristian Romero, with the likes of Mohammed Kudus, Guglielmo Vicario and Dejan Kulusevski on the sidelines too.
