Arsenal have been linked with a summer transfer swoop for Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta refused to discuss transfer speculation linking the Gunners with a move for Atletico forward Julian Alvarez following Diego Siemone’s transfer revelation.
The Argentinian striker is rated at £120m-plus by Atletico and the former Man City man has a brilliant goal scoring record.
Atletico Madrid boss, Simeone, claimed there was interest from the Gunners and was asked whether he was concerned about Alvarez’s future at the club.
He said: “I’m not in Julian Alvarez’s head. I suppose that’s just normal. He is an extraordinary player.
“There’s interest from Arsenal, Barcelona, Paris Saint Germain and other teams. But there is nothing to be concerned about.”

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Arsenal’s Champions League showdown with Atletico Madrid, Arteta said: “You know that I don’t talk and should never talk about any player that is not our player.”
When asked about his sides struggles in front of goal, the Gunners boss added: “We have to do better. Obviously the moment we can take shots, it was a great example against Newcastle what can happen [when we take shots].
“We want to improve in every department, but as we are sitting here tonight, you have to be exceptional or one of the top four teams in Europe to be here.
“So, imagine how difficult that is.”
