Being selected in the NFL Draft is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. For one choice of the Pittsburgh Steelers, his name was called while he was in the midst of a round of golf.
Iowa wide receiver Kaden Wetjen was enjoying his afternoon with his girlfriend, Rachel Bierman, and some friends at Stone Creek Golf Club near the University of Iowa campus.
According to the caption on the video, Wetjen was on the eighth hole of his round when he got a call from Pittsburgh as the Steelers informed him they’d be picking him.
Bierman recorded Wetjen’s half of the conversation as he stood by the green with a wedge in his hand.
The party then paused their round as they watched the draft on a live stream to hear his name read out with the 121st overall pick.
‘Hole 8, Round 4, Pick 121 – a moment we will remember forever,’ Bierman captioned the post.

Wetjen began his college football career at Iowa Western Community College before transferring to the Hawkeyes for the 2022 season.
While he only managed an FBS career high of 151 receiving yards, he became known for his specialty at returning kicks and punts.
In the 2024 season, he led the nation with 727 kick return yards while also bagging himself a kickoff and punt return for a touchdown.
In his final year, he led the nation in punt return yards (563), average yards per punt return (26.8) and a stunning three punt returns for a touchdown.Â
Wetjen ended his FBS career with 1,538 kick return yards and 954 punt return yards along with a combined six returns for a touchdown.Â
