Members of Eti-Osa Coaches Council on Saturday set in motion a special training programme for young talented goalkeepers in Lagos State.
Sports247 gatheted that the state-wide venture drew many teenagers and youths within the serene suburb of Lagos Island, with all the participants enjoying practical training on a lush green astro turf pitch.
Sports247 gathered further that the innovative programme is aimed at unearthing a new array of talented lads who can be groomed to become globally renowned net minders and shot-stoppers in years to come.
Aside from discovering new talents to man the goal posts of clubs at various levels of the round leather game, organisers said the ongoing programme is also open to keepers who are already growing through the ranks of lower division league teams.
A media statement from the organisers revealed that the weekend training sessions will not end in Eti-Osa, as it is directed at touching numerous communities across Lagos State, while working with members of various coaches councils within each locality.
The statement added, “Goalkeeper training session is ongoing at Eti-Osa Coaches Council. The first of its kind in Lagos State. This initiative shall be going round all the 23 coaches’ councils of Lagos State.”
