Donald Trump says the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon will be extended by three weeks and that he looks forward to hosting their Presidents in the future
Donald Trump has said the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon has been extended by the three weeks after he took part in “historic” negotiations.
The US president said the decision came after a meeting between US, Israeli and Lebanese officials in the Oval Office today, adding that the US will be working with Lebanon to “help it protect itself from Hezbollah.”
The negotiations, also attended by Vice-President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, went “very well,” according to Trump.
He said it was a “great honour” to be part of the “very historic meeting” and looks forward to hosting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun in the near future.
Posting after the meeting on Truth Social Trump said: “The United States is going to work with Lebanon in order to help it protect itself from Hezbollah. The Ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon will be extended by THREE WEEKS.
“I look forward in the near future to hosting the Prime Minister of Israel, Bibi Netanyahu, and the President of Lebanon, Joseph Aoun. It was a Great Honor to be a participant at this very Historic Meeting! President DONALD J. TRUMP”
