Three suspects have been arrested on suspicion of rape and murder after seven family members were reportedly kidnapped from their home in South Africa, before being executed
A family of seven have been found dead following alleged kidnappings and executions.
Police have arrested three suspects on suspicion of rape and murder with reports that the seven family members were kidnapped from their home in Newark, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa – before being executed in Melmoth.
The suspects, aged 21, 26, and 28, are expected to appear in the KwaDukuza Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 24 April 2026 facing charges of kidnapping, murder, rape, and robbery.
The incident occurred on April 21 at a property in Newtown, Newark, with a domestic worker arriving to find the house broken into and seven family members missing, along with a vehicle.
Newark police were immediately summoned, triggering a massive search involving various units of the force and private security partners before tragically the bodies were found.
After breaking into the home, the victims were allegedly tied up with rope and a 20-year-old woman was raped. The family was then taken using their own vehicle to Melmoth which is around 200km away.
It is claimed that the suspects demanded bank details from three of the victims before they were shot dead and the other four members of the family were stabbed to death.
