Rangers could be set for a busy summer with wholesale changes as Danny Rohl’s side look to seal their first Scottish Premiership title in five years.
The Glasgow giants are battling rivals Celtic and Hearts for the title and a crucial place in the Champions League play-off round next season.
Although Rangers will want to invest no matter what the outcome, a third place finish would result in Conference League football instead and potentially lead to the departures of a number of key players.
With the remaining few matches of the season imperative to the club’s squad building plans, FootballTransfers explores five players who could leave Rangers this summer.
James Tavernier
One departure that has already been confirmed could end up having the biggest impact of all, with captain James Tavernier set to end his 11-year stay with Rangers when his contract expires in at the end of the season.
The 34-year-old has established himself as a club legend since joining from Wigan Athletic in 2015, helping Rangers to promotion to the Premiership and becoming a prolific scorer from right-back along the way.
With 142 goals in more than 500 appearances, Tavernier’s departure will leave a huge hole at the club and Rangers’ top priority this summer will be replacing their iconic star’s impact both on and off the pitch.
Emmanuel Fernandez
A number of Rangers’ top stars could command big-money interest from the Premier League, none more so than defender Emmanuel Fernandez after his impressive debut season at Ibrox.
Fernandez only joined Rangers last summer from Peterborough and initially had a slow start to life in Scotland but the 24-year-old has become a key player under Rohl, leading to admiration from all across Europe.
The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Dortmund have all been linked with a move for Fernandez, with Rangers reportedly only willing to sell the Nigerian international for a club record fee eclipsing €25 million.
Nicolas Raskin
No outfield player has featured in more minutes for Rangers this season than Nicolas Raskin and the Gers could face a battle to keep hold of their star midfielder if they miss out on Champions League football.
Raskin has enjoyed a rise to stardom with his performances this season and the 25-year-old is expected to feature at the 2026 World Cup this summer after making his debut for Belgium last year.
Rangers have already faced a battle to keep hold of Raskin during his time at the club and, with two years remaining on his deal, an offer in excess of €20m could tempt them into cashing in while his value is at its highest.
Youssef Chermiti
Rangers have recently finally begun to see the quality that young striker Youssef Chermiti has after initially struggling to adapt following his €8.6m move from Everton last summer.
The 21-year-old scored just once in his first 18 appearances but he has netted ten times in the following 18 matches to become Rangers’ top scorer this season, prompting interest from a number of teams.
PSV are among the sides that have registered an interest in Chermiti and Rangers could be open to the Portuguese youngster’s sale for the right price despite his improved form and endearing brace against rivals Celtic in March.
Bailey Rice
Rangers are also expecting to lose Bailey Rice on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season after interest emerged in the young midfielder.
Rice was touted as a future star for Rangers since joining the club in 2022 but the 19-year-old has endured a disaster season through injury, failing to make an appearance all year.
Rangers are open to Rice’s stay but, with Ajax and Schalke among the sides said to be interest in a deal, the teenager may depart this summer in a disappointing conclusion to his time at the club.
