Ex-international defender, Tajudeen Disu has spoken about the emergence of Scalepea-Mah Development Association (SAMDA) in Nigeria’s youth football sector and declared that it is a project that will boost talent development in the country.
Sports247 reports that Disu stated this while speaking at the official unveiling of SAMDA Nigeria under-13 football tournament for boys and girls in Lagos, which he pointed out is a well-organised tournament with an innovative approach.

Disu noted that the tournament, which is organised in collaboration with Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) marks the entry of international standards and global approaches into youth football competitions in Nigeria.
The former Abiola Babes of Abeokuta defender and ex-youth international also spoke about his growth from grassroots football into an national team player, then submitted with a verdict that SAMDA will help in the enhanced discovery of Nigeria’s future football stars.
“SAMDA is here to provide talented young boys and girls with opportunities to take their careers to greater heights. I say this because I have experienced that pathway and understand the value of such platforms in fostering development.
“I represented my primary and secondary schools before being drafted into the YSFON team that represented Nigeria at a youth tournament in Dallas, USA. Some of us were scouted by university coaches at that tournament.
“At the time, I was pursuing my Higher School Certificate at Baptist Academy, Obanikoro, Lagos,” recounted the soft-spoken and very humble Disu, who was during the event designated as SAMDA’s head of sports in Africa.
Sports247 gathered that players from the competition’s four participating teams, which were identified during the unveiling at LASUBEB Hall in Maryland, resumed camp on Sunday, ahead of their matches at Opebi Primary School, Ikeja.
