After suffering an injury which has sidelined him for months, one of the top defensive tackle prospects in this years draft is assuring teams that he’ll be healed up by the time the season starts.
University of Florida star Caleb Banks is recovering from a broken fourth metatarsal in his foot that he suffered during this year’s NFL Scouting Combine.
This comes off the back of Banks injuring the same foot in the middle of the 2025 college football season – which restricted him to just three games played.
However, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Banks sent a letter to every NFL team on Wednesday telling them his healing process is coming along well.
In the letter, Banks says he underwent a CT scan on Tuesday and is ‘on pace to be fully cleared for full football activities in early June,’ according to the outlet.
Banks put up a strong performance in the Senior Bowl in January which further boosted his draft stock.

Banks broke a bone in his foot during this year’s NFL Combine. The break came after Banks had recovered from an injury in the same foot that limited him to three games played in 2025.
In 2024, Banks logged four and a half sacks as well as 21 tackles for career highs
But the injury at the combine prevented him from fully displaying his talents for teams since February.
Banks – who clocks in at 6-foot-6, 327 pounds – is within the top-five of defensive tackle prospects in the draft pool.
In 2024, he logged 21 total tackles and four-and-a-half sacks as well as a forced fumble with the Gators.
As of now, Banks is mocked mostly as a mid-second-round pick. But some draft experts believe he could be a first-round selection.
