Rosenior sacked

Chelsea have sacked head coach Liam Rosenior after Tuesday’s dismal 3-0 loss to Brighton.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Chelsea held multiple meetings on Wednesday to determine the 41-year-old’s fate after 23 games in charge.

Rosenior only replaced Enzo Maresca in January, but a five-game losing streak in the Premier League – without scoring a single goal – was the worst run of results in over a century.

The former Strasbourg boss signed a six-and-a-half-year contract, meaning that Chelsea could now be forced to shell out as much as €24m in compensation, unless there was a fixed termination fee in his deal.

Chelsea make Europa League provisions

BlueCo have prepared for the possibility of both Chelsea and Strasbourg qualifying for the Europa League by dismissing sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Lawrence Stewart from the latter club’s board, as per L’Equipe.

In the event that both clubs require entry into Europe’s secondary competition, Strasbourg will be placed in a blind trust in order to comply with UEFA regulations. This would mean that Chelsea would not be allowed to do business with their sister club until summer 2027.

This would, by extension, mean that Valentin Barco’s not-yet-confirmed move from Strasbourg to Chelsea would fall through. Should both clubs qualify for different competitions, however, the status quo would remain unchanged.

€60m Inacio battle

Chelsea are involved in an “epic” battle to sign Sporting CP defender Goncalo Inacio, Apito Final claims.

The Blues and five other European giants are showing a strong interest in the Portuguese centre-back, who can be signed by triggering his €60 million release clause. After being linked with a big move for years, Inacio could finally be on the move this summer.

In addition to Chelsea, he is fielding interest from Barcelona, Liverpool, Man Utd and Real Madrid, all clubs who are known to be in the market for a new centre-back, with the exception of the Red Devils perhaps.

Chelsea join Gordon race

Chelsea have joined the race to sign Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon, TEAMtalk states.

The England international is expected to be on the move this summer after being omitted from the Magpies’ game against Bournemouth at the weekend. Eddie Howe had said in the build-up that he would only use players who are fully committed.

It is believed that Gordon wasn’t in the right headspace to play after his representatives were contacted by Bayern Munich. The German giants are the favourites to sign him, but Arsenal and now also Chelsea are interested as well.

Spurs confident of Gray stay

Tottenham believe that they will be in a strong position to keep hold of Archie Gray if they successfully stave off relegation, Football Insider reports.

The 20-year-old has impressed in what has been a horrendous season for Spurs, attracting interest from suitors who are keen to pounce on the club’s most valuable assets in the event of relegation.

Chelsea and Liverpool have been mentioned as admirers of Gray, but Spurs want to build their team around the versatile youngster and are confident that he will stay if they confirm their Premier League status.

Arsenal favourites for Fernandez

Chelsea are interested in Rangers defender Emmanuel Fernandez, but Arsenal are the domestic club showing the strongest interest, according to TEAMtalk.

The 24-year-old has been a standout performer at centre-back for the Ibrox club this season. Having joined from Peterborough last summer, Fernandez could be on his way to the Premier League after just one season.

Chelsea, Everton and West Ham are among the English clubs interested in Fernandez, but it is Arsenal who are pushing the hardest for his signature. Bundesliga clubs are also following the player.
