The San Francisco 49ers have locked down offensive lineman Trent Williams to a two-year, $50million extension, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Williams, 37, is one of the greatest offensive linemen in the history of the game – being named a second-team All-Pro last season.
He’s a 12-time Pro Bowler and a five-time All-Pro selection (three times to the first team, twice to the second team).
Williams was the fourth overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft and spent the first decade of his career with the Washington Redskins.
In the Nation’s Capital, Williams became an icon for the team which would later be re-named the Commanders.
Even after being traded to San Francisco, Williams was inducted into Washington’s Greatest Players list in honor of the franchise’s 90th anniversary.

Williams (71) was rumored to be agitated over the prolonged negotiations for a new deal
Washington traded him in April of 2020 in exchange for a 2020 fifth-round pick (used to take center Keith Ismael) and a 2021 third-round pick (used to take cornerback Benjamin St-Juste).
The deal puts an end to speculation that Williams was unhappy in San Francisco as his quest for a new contract ran long.
But now, the offensive tackle position is no longer a need the 49ers need to fill ahead of the draft.
Now, they can focus on taking an edge rusher and a wide receiver with their first two selections of the draft.
Last season, the 49ers rebounded from an injury-riddled 2024 to make the NFC Playoffs.
After defeating the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card, they then lost to the eventual Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks in the Divisional round.
