Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger still believes the Gunners will win this season’s Premier League title, despite losing to Manchester City at the Etihad.
Arsenal’s hopes of winning a first league title suffered another setback following their 2-1 defeat to City on Sunday.
Rayan cherki gave City the perfect start with a brilliant solo goal before Kai Havertz equalised some few minutes later.
But in the second half Erling Haaland grabbed the winner to put City just three points behind Arsenal with a game in hand.
Pep Guardiola’s men will go top of the table if they defeat relegation-threatened Burnley at Turf Moor on Wednesday.
But Wenger is still optimistic that Arsenal will go on to be crowned champions, positing that City will not win all their remaining matches.
“I believe that #Arsenal will win the Premier League this season. I deeply believe. It looks, to me, like common-sense,” Wenger was quoted on the X handle of Arsenal News Channel.
“I like Eze, Odegaard, Havertz and Madueke’s attacking intent at the Etihad. Manchester City will not make the perfect run-in.”
