Newcastle United forward Anthony Gordon has reportedly informed his camp that he is open to joining Bayern Munich during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The England international has emerged as a target for Vincent Kompany’s side in recent weeks and it’s understood that Bayern are ready to battle for his signature this summer as they look to add additional attacking reinforcements to their first-team squad.
The Bavarian giants, who sealed their 35th Bundesliga title on Sunday, aren’t expected to sign Nicolas Jackson on a permanent deal when his loan spell from Chelsea ends this summer and they have instead pivoted their attention to Gordon.
It has been widely reported that a move for the 25-year-old could take place this summer, with Bayern eager to secure the signing of a player capable of challenging Luis Diaz for a starting berth next season.
Gordon has scored 17 goals and provided five assists in 46 games for Newcastle so far this season and although he still has four years remaining on his current contract at St James’ Park, he is one of several players who could depart ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
It’s understood that Gordon is exploring his options ahead of a potential summer move and Sky Sports reporter Sacha Tavolieri has now revealed that the success of Michael Olise since arriving from Crystal Palace has “inspired” Gordon to join Bayern.
He has reportedly told his representatives that he is open to an Allianz Arena switch and the Bundesliga giants are expected to begin negotiations with Gordon’s agent over the coming weeks.
Newcastle have already drawn up a list of possible replacements for Gordon, although a sale may not be permitted if fellow Magpies stars Sandro Tonali and Valentino Livramento also depart.
Arsenal handed Anthony Gordon transfer update
News that Gordon is open to joining Bayern will come as a crushing blow to Arsenal, who have earmarked the England star as their top target for the left wing position.
Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard have both been tipped to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer and, as exclusively revealed by FootballTransfers, Mikel Arteta wants to bring Gordon to the club ahead of next season.
He is seen as an ideal fit for the English core that is being built in north London, but competition from Bayern represents a significant hurdle that Arsenal will be required to overcome if they want to secure his signature this summer.
