Donald Trump has said US Marines intercepted and took “full custody” of an Iranian-flagged cargo ship in the Gulf of Oman.
The US president said: “The Iranian crew refused to listen, so our Navy ship stopped them right in their tracks by blowing a hole in the engineroom.”
The US blockade of maritime traffic entering and leaving Iranian ports began on Monday. It is a move Iran views as a violation of the two-week ceasefire.
Earlier today, Iranian state media reported that Iran has rejected a second round of peace talks with the US, which Trump had said would take place on Monday night.
