Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has delivered updates from the market, with Tottenham closing in on two deals, plus the latest on the blockbuster saga of Elliot Anderson and the truth behind the latest Marcus Rashford rumours.
Tottenham close to agreeing two transfer
Tottenham’s Premier League status may be far from secure, but Roberto De Zerbi’s side are already making moves in the transfer market.
Romano explained on his YouTube channel: “There are already two deals on the way for Spurs for the 2026/27 season. But these two deals depend on what happens from now until the end of the season, whether Tottenham stay in the Premier League or get relegated to the Championship.
“Nothing has been signed. Nothing is completed. Nothing is sealed. Nothing is official.
“But Tottenham are in a very advanced stage of negotiations with both players and both players’ camps. Spurs are very optimistic. Of course, those players want to know if Tottenham will be in the Premier League or in the Championship next season, because they do not want Championship football.
“One player you already know is Andy Robertson. I told you that the Scottish left-back is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season on a free transfer and is set to join Tottenham if they stay up. According to my information, there is already an agreement on everything between Robertson and Tottenham, depending on Premier League survival.
“The other deal is for Marco Senesi, the Bournemouth centre-back.
“Bournemouth are changing many things, and among those changes in the summer window is the situation of Marco Senesi. He has done very well, he is a really important defender for Bournemouth, and he has also received approaches from Italy, for example, from Juventus.
“Several clubs are interested in signing Senesi on a free, because he is a very good ball-playing centre-back and a very good opportunity. But the player’s desire is to stay in the Premier League. That is why Italian clubs and Spanish clubs have nothing advanced with him at the moment.
“The club in most advanced talks with Senesi is Tottenham Hotspur. The conversation is very advanced, but nothing will be signed until Tottenham know if they will be in the Championship or the Premier League. So these two deals could become here we go if Spurs stay up.”
Romano predicts Elliot Anderson ‘battle’
Elliot Anderson will be on the move this summer, with Manchester United and Manchester City the two clubs most readily associated with the Nottingham Forest midfield star.
“There is going to be a battle for the midfielder. I told you that nothing will be decided in a couple of days because every club wants to respect Nottingham Forest. Forest are involved in a relegation battle, and they are also trying to do something historical in Europe. So to go and agree a deal for one of their crucial players in the next few days is not realistic.
“It will take some time, some weeks, maybe months, but probably weeks before we know the situation. Manchester City have already started very advanced conversations with the player’s camp. So City are pushing to sign Elliott Anderson.
“There are very good talks with the player side, but still nothing done and nothing completed. Club to club with Nottingham Forest, the situation is not even close yet because negotiations will start later. Forest want a record, a really important fee for the midfielder.
“Manchester United remain in the race too. They are not giving up. They know City started their plan a long time ago, but until the deal is done, United want to be there. They want to try. And they believe that the chance to offer Champions League football could be important in trying to get closer to City in this race.
“So Elliott Anderson is a big name to follow. The key factor will be the negotiation with Nottingham Forest, and who is prepared to pay what Forest want.”
Ederson’s Atletico Madrid stalling – could Man Utd take advantage?
Atalanta midfielder Ederson is a player who has long been linked with a move to one of Europe’s biggest clubs, but it has never quite happened. With a switch to Atletico Madrid having hit a snag, is this Man Utd’s chance to make a move?
“Atletico Madrid already have an agreement with the player on personal terms, and that has been in place since around February or March. But at the moment Atletico are not willing to pay what Atalanta want. Atalanta start from €45 million. Maybe it can be negotiated to around €40m, something in that area, but negotiating with Atalanta is never easy for any club,” Romano said.
“Now, from what I understand, Premier League clubs are also calling for him. So if Atalanta and Atletico Madrid cannot close the deal, keep an eye on the Premier League situation too. Manchester United were tracking him already when Ruben Amorim was the coach, and he has always been appreciated by people at the club.
“Let’s see if United decide to return. Ederson could be attractive because he is out of contract in 2027, he is not on a crazy salary, and financially he could be a very good package overall, with salary, commissions and transfer fee all considered. But Atalanta insist on €45 million. So Premier League clubs are attentive to the situation, with Atletico still in the race but not yet with Atalanta.”
Romano addresses Rashford rumours
With reports claiming that Barcelona are ready to sign Palmeiras wonderkid Eduardo Conceicao, who has also been linked with Man City, Romano cleared up how this might impact Marcus Rashford’s future at the club.
“My understanding is that Barcelona are not in advanced talks for Eduardo Conceicao at the moment. Barcelona have been monitoring and tracking the player, for sure, but several other clubs around Europe, including Premier League clubs, are doing the same. So nothing is decided with Barcelona yet,” Romano said.
“And this Eduardo Conceicao situation is not linked to what is going to happen with Marcus Rashford. Rashford and Conceicao are not in the same conversation.
“For Rashford, as I told you before, the situation is quite clear. Barcelona want to renegotiate terms with Manchester United. At the moment, they are asking for a different structure, while United insist on getting the full €30m for Rashford. There is still no green light because United do not want to negotiate.
“United say €30m, or the player comes back here and then we decide what to do, sell him, keep him, we will see. But at the moment, Manchester United want their full money by option. Barcelona have an agreement with the player, but not yet with United. So that story remains open, but it is not linked to the Brazilian wonderkid.”
