Nigeria Premier Football League- NPFL, leading marksman Joseph Arumala has insisted he is not feeling any pressure in the race for the Golden Boot.
Arumala emphasized that his priority remains enjoying his football and helping Ikorodu City achieve a strong finish this season.
The in-form winger, who currently tops the scoring chart with 12 goals, has been one of the standout performers in the Nigeria Premier Football League this campaign.
Despite close competition from experienced forwards, Arumala remains calm and unfazed.
“I just want to take it one game at a time,” he said. “There’s no pressure on me to win the Golden Boot. My focus is to enjoy my game and contribute to the team’s success.”
Arumala is closely followed by seasoned strikers Godwin Obaje and Emeka Obioma, who are both just one goal behind.
However, the Ikorodu City star maintains that individual accolades are secondary.
“In football, anything can happen. The race is still open, and I’m not setting any personal target. I just want to help my team finish as high as possible,” he added.
Since joining Ikorodu City at the start of the season, Arumala has made an immediate impact in his debut NPFL campaign.
He is also on the verge of making club history, needing just one more goal to surpass the current single-season scoring record.
Beyond personal milestones, the winger has his sights set on a collective achievement—guiding his side into a top-three finish, which he describes as a “big success” for the club.
For Arumala, the message is simple: stay focused, enjoy the game, and let the goals come naturally.
