Former Coventry City player George Boateng has warned Frank Lampard that the grass won’t be greener elsewhere.
It comes amid speculation of a move to a Premier League club – but the Sky Blues will soon be a top division side themselves!

Since exiting the top flight in 2001, the club has endured ownership chaos, relegation to League Two and a 25-year stadium crisis which left them homeless.
Manager Mark Robins stabilised the club, leading them back to the Championship and to the brink of the Premier League.
However, Lampard was appointed in the 2024/25 season after the Sky Blues suffered a poor start, taking over the club in 17th.
The ex-Chelsea boss has since transformed the side from relegation candidates to promotion contenders and is now on the verge of returning to the ‘promised land’.
After the extraordinary job done by the 47-year-old, he has been linked with the Bournemouth job following confirmation that current manager Andoni Iraola will be leaving this summer.
However, the former midfielder was quick to dismiss the rumours with a one-word answer ahead of the Blackburn game, which will confirm their top-flight status, saying: “Nothing!”
“Nothing, because I have been in this game long enough to know that those things happen and very quickly they change. Absolutely my focus is on us.
“I want to win this league now after what we’ve done through the season because it will be a slight anti-climax for myself if we didn’t get the job done there.
“And that’s a good pressure to have at this point. So I want to do that and nothing else is taking me anywhere away than thinking about that.”
Legendary status awaits

And Boateng believes staying at the club following promotion rather than moving on would put him on a journey to becoming a legend.
He said: “The talk is inevitable when a club does well, he’s had a fantastic year. He came in last season and everyone had high hopes and anticipated what he could do for Coventry, but Frank has done an unbelievable job.
“The squad was already there but you have to manage, you have to pick the team, be tactical to win the games and he now deserves all the credit.
“It’s normal there would be interest, but it’s important he remembers the grass isn’t always greener somewhere else. He can become a hero for Coventry, he can become a legend.
“You can serve the club for many more years – you have brought them to the Premier League, now stay with them and get a respectable finish in the top division.”
Boateng went on to add: “It means a lot to the fans and the chairman after what they have been through. They’ve been building little by little every season.

“We can’t forget what Mark Robins did for the club. He laid the foundations and implemented a playing style and a philosophy.
“It’s not been an easy journey to get here, everyone remembers that game against Manchester United in the FA Cup.
“The club could have easily fallen apart but they didn’t. They picked up and they built again and now under Frank it seems all the positives are coming together and tonight is a huge opportunity for the club to make a huge step into the promised land.”
The blueprint for survival
The Sky Blues will hope to follow a similar trend to Sunderland and Leeds, who have situated themselves outside of the relegation zone in the Premier League – an impressive feat after successive seasons where the promoted clubs went straight back down.
Boateng advised how Coventry can follow suit and prepare for life in the top-flight: “They will have to find a balance, sometimes people think we have to forget about the lads who have brought us to this point.”
“Sunderland have kept a few players who were in the Championship with them, but they’ve added quality players who don’t necessarily have Premier League experience but they offer speed and power.
“The technical and tactical side is important, but you need lads who are willing to cover the distance. You can’t buy players who are just skilful but have no fitness.
“Coventry already have a very good balance and Frank has Premier League experience.
“They have Haji Wright will do it there, Jack Rudoni wanting to prove himself, and Milan van Ewijk, who has been the best right back in the Championship.”
