- Former St Kilda star Jake Carlisle punched a teammate from Moama
Former St Kilda and Essendon star Jake Carlisle has been sacked from a local footy club in Victoria after just one game following damning vision of him punching one of his own teammates.
Carlisle, 34, was announced as a player-coach of Moama last October, but he has now departed the club in disgrace.
‘Official line is that he has moved back to Melbourne, hence why he has been cleared. ‘Nothing more to add, sorry,’ Moama club president Scott Slater told News Corp.
The controversial incident involving the hard-nosed defender unfolded in Moama’s season-opening clash against Echuca United in the Murray Football League on Good Friday.
Independent sports reporter Matt Jackson shared the vision on his social media platforms, labelling the incident a ‘disgrace’.
‘That’s Jake Carlisle… and this was their first game (Moama) with him being a player and co-coach,’ Jackson said.

‘He’s decided to smack his own teammate in the face. What’s he doing? This is a disgrace.
‘Even the other teammates, they’re like, ‘What are you doing, mate?’
‘Echuca United players, they are in disbelief.’
Daily Mail understands it also wasn’t the first disagreement Carlisle had with his Moama teammates during his short stint with the club.

The swingman played 151 games at AFL level, with his controversial career drawing to a close at St Kilda in 2021.
He was one of the 34 players banned for the 2016 season due to the infamous Essendon supplements scandal, which happened to be Carlisle’s first year at the Saints.
Carlisle is yet to comment on the incident.
