A woman died during an overnight Qantas flight from New York to Auckland, police in New Zealand confirmed
A woman tragically died during an overnight flight from the United States to New Zealand.
A police spokesperson said that officers in Auckland were alerted to a “sudden death, which occurred on an inbound Qantas flight from New York to Auckland overnight”. Inquiries into the woman’s death are ongoing on behalf of the coroner, the spokesperson said.
Qantas confirmed to local outlet Stuff that a passenger died during the flight. “Urgent assistance was provided by crew and doctors onboard but sadly they passed away,” a spokesperson said. “In line with standard procedure, emergency services met the aircraft as part of the response.”
The spokesperson said the airline’s thoughts are with the woman’s family and loved ones.
