General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, Sanusi Mohammed, has insisted that the federation’s appeal against the Democratic Republic of Congo remains active at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Despite earlier rulings by FIFA, which did not favour Nigeria’s position, Sanusi made it clear that the federation is not prepared to abandon the case.
“Our appeal is still on,” he said firmly.
The dispute centers on allegations that the Democratic Republic of Congo committed a fraudulent act, a claim the NFF continues to pursue through legal channels.
According to Sanusi, the federation believes strongly in its case and is determined to see it through.
“We believe a wrong decision was made,” he implied.
He argued that the ruling by FIFA did not adequately address the concerns raised by Nigeria, and that CAS now represents the final avenue for justice.
“We are waiting for the verdict,” he noted.
For the NFF, the case is about more than just the outcome of a match, it is about ensuring fairness and accountability within international football.
“We must stand our ground,” he stressed.
However, the situation has also drawn mixed reactions, with some stakeholders questioning the strength of Nigeria’s case and whether the focus should instead shift to rebuilding the team after recent setbacks.
As the legal process continues, attention will remain on CAS and the eventual decision that could bring closure to the matter.
For now, the NFF’s stance is clear.
They are not backing down.
