Ikorodu City head coach, Bright Ozebagbe, has reaffirmed his side’s determination to remain firmly in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title race following a commanding 3-0 victory over Kano Pillars at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on Sunday.

The emphatic Matchday 34 triumph saw Ikorodu City deliver a composed and clinical performance, with Joseph Arumala opening the scoring in the first half before Tosin Oyedokun and Abayomi Ayodeji sealed the win in the closing stages.
Speaking after the match, Ozebagbe expressed satisfaction with his team’s execution, emphasizing their focus and discipline throughout the encounter.
“Every game day, you go out there with a plan and the desire to get all three points,” he said.
“Today worked out well for us. It was important to stay calm, remain patient, and take our chances when they came and that’s exactly what we did.”
Despite coming off another strong performance the previous week, the Ikorodu City boss maintained respect for their opponents, noting that consistency and composure have been key to his side’s recent run.
“I have a lot of respect for every opponent we face. The league is very competitive, so you must stay focused and take your opportunities,” he added.
The victory keeps Ikorodu City firmly in contention for both the NPFL title and a continental ticket, with just four games left in the season. Ozebagbe acknowledged the pressure but insists his team is right where they want to be.
“We’re still in the race, in a good position, and we have four more games to go. The dream is still alive, and we’ll keep pushing to win our matches.”
On whether he feels any pressure at this crucial stage of the campaign, the coach admitted that concerns are inevitable but remain part of the job.
“Of course, there are always worries. Nothing is decided yet. The league is tight, from the top to the bottom — so every game is important and comes with its own challenge.”
The result further boosts Ikorodu City’s push for continental qualification, while piling pressure on Kano Pillars, who remain entrenched in the relegation battle.
Addressing the fans, Ozebagbe urged continued belief and support as the season heads into a decisive final stretch.
“We appreciate the support. We’ll keep working hard and stay focused. There’s still a lot to play for.”
With momentum on their side, Ikorodu City now turn their attention to the final four fixtures, knowing that consistency could define what has already been a remarkable campaign.
Ikorodu City FC currently sit on third position behind Rangers and Rivers United in second and third respectively with just three points separating the Oga Boys from Rivers United at the top.
