Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres has revealed what it is really like working with Mikel Arteta
Viktor Gyokeres has admitted Mikel Arteta tries to improve him and his Arsenal teammates “every day” as the Gunners bid to win a Premier League title for the first time in 22 years.
The Swedish striker has hit 17 goals for the league leaders this season, making him comfortably the top scorer at the club. Making the step from Portuguese to English football has been a big one, but the influence and improvements from his new manager have been a daily experience, making a clear impact.
“I think it’s been very interesting,” Gyokeres said in an exclusive interview regarding working with Arteta. “A lot of new things, you learn a lot every day here.

“So, in that sense, it’s great. He tries to improve us every day, individually and as a team. I just try to be the best I can in training and in the games. To go forward as a player and as a team.”
Arteta made it clear that the summer striker signing had to be someone who were they not to score for several games, their standard and their focus could not dip. It was made clear they could not become a different player.
Gyokeres admitted that while scoring in any match is the peak for a striker, having perspective in every game keeps him ready when the chances come.
“It’s always the best feeling if we win games and I score as many goals as I can in the game, that’s the best feeling as a striker, no matter what anyone says,” he said.
“I think everyone who plays as a nine wants that, but then that’s not the reality. You’re going to have games where you don’t score, maybe you didn’t get the chances, or you didn’t take them.
“Just stay focused and be ready because it’s going to come. And when it comes, you have to be ready.”
