The new jerseys produced by American kit manufacturer, Nike, for the Super Eagles have come out ‘unscathed’ and not part of controversy trailing recent supplies to other countries ahead of the FIFA World Cup.

Sports247 reports that Nike has come under fire for flaws seen in their supplies to England, France and Canada, but nothing has been said about Nigeria’s new kit.
While fashion experts slammed Nike for what they described as ‘a design error’ in England’s new jerseys, their supplies to Nigeria have avoided similar critical scrutiny and aspersions.
This is despite how a section of Nigeria’s football fans complained about Nike’s decision to use lemon green on the Eagles’ home jerseys as well as black with red stripes for the training kit, which appears old fashioned.
However, apart from some complaints about colour, issues surrounding Nigeria’s supplies are not as sharp as ‘poor shoulder stitching’ and ‘unsightly bulge’ for other countries.
Interestingly, a report by UK tabloid, Mirror revealed in part, “The problem, which will affect players and fans of France, Canada and Uruguay at the World Cup this summer, has now been acknowledged by Nike.
“The problem was during England’s recent friendlies against Japan and Uruguay. It has set social media alight, with fans furious over such a basic issue – which has been labelled ‘a complete joke’ and could impact sales.”
In a reaction, London’s Guardian newspaper quoted a Nike official saying: “During the recent international break, we observed a minor issue with our Nike national team kits, most noticeable around the shoulder seam.
“Performance is unaffected, but the overall aesthetic is not where it needs to be. We are a global team of best-in-class designers, creators and dreamers who spend every day thinking about how to innovate, challenge ourselves, and take risks.”
