The president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Patrice Motsepe has dismissed corruption allegations from Senegal regarding the decision to strip them of the 2025 AFCON title and award it to Morocco.
Motsepe made his remarks in Dakar on Wednesday while reacting to furious claims made by Senegal.
Recall that CAF overturned Senegal’s 1-0 win over Morocco in the AFCON final (originally played Jan 18), awarding a 3-0 victory to Morocco.
The decision was based on a disciplinary board finding that Senegal violated regulations by briefly walking off the field during a 14-minute protest over a stoppage-time penalty.

Reacting to the development, Motsepe denied claims of favoritism toward Morocco and said he welcomes any investigations into corruption, “be it by a government or any institution.”
“If anybody wants to initiate legal action alleging that there is corruption in CAF I don’t only welcome that, I encourage them,” said Patrice Motsepe, speaking in Morocco.
“There’s nothing to hide. We respect enormously the judicial and legal sovereignty of every single one of our 54 nations on the African continent.
“I’m confident that whatever the decision of CAS will say, we will respect it and we will implement it,” he added, referring to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
