Newly elected Chairman of the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON), Senior High Chief Tony Akiotu, has pledged to lead an inclusive and reform-driven administration following his emphatic victory at the association’s biennial election in Abuja.

Akiotu, who secured a commanding 62 votes to defeat Chief Raymond Dokpesi Jr., described his emergence as a collective mandate and a reflection of the trust reposed in him by stakeholders across the Nigerian broadcasting industry.

In his acceptance speech, the BON chairman expressed gratitude to members and supporters, assuring that his leadership would be guided by humility, unity, and a strong sense of responsibility.

He dedicated his victory to all BON members and the wider Nigerian media industry, while calling for collaboration to reposition the organisation in a rapidly evolving media landscape.

He also acknowledged his co-contestant, noting that both camps share a common vision for the advancement of broadcasting in Nigeria.

Akiotu paid tribute to past industry leaders, including the late High Chief Raymond Dokpesi, for their pioneering contributions to radio and television development in the country.

Outlining his agenda, Akiotu highlighted key priorities such as strengthening the sustainability of broadcast institutions, driving digital transition, enhancing professional capacity, and fostering greater collaboration among stakeholders.

He further commended the outgoing executive committee for laying a solid foundation, promising to build on their achievements.

Meanwhile, M4STV, the digital media platform where Akiotu serves as Chairman/CEO, has celebrated his victory, describing it as a strong endorsement of his leadership credentials and vision for the industry.

In a statement, the management of M4STV expressed deep appreciation to delegates and supporters, noting that the outcome of the election reflects the confidence and respect Akiotu commands within the media space.

“The confidence and trust placed in Chief Akiotu will be honored with purposeful leadership, integrity, and results,” the statement read.

The organisation added that his emergence signals a new era of innovation, unity, and strategic growth for BON, reinforcing its role as the collective voice of Nigerian broadcasters.

M4STV also reaffirmed its commitment to excellence in content delivery across news, entertainment, sports, hospitality, and health, while aligning with broader efforts to advance the nation’s broadcasting industry.

Akiotu’s victory, the platform noted, represents not only a personal milestone but a defining moment for Nigerian broadcasting, setting the stage for renewed collaboration, digital transformation, and sustainable growth across the sector.
