Aston Villa could ignite a major transfer saga this summer after opening the door to selling Morgan Rogers, with the Premier League’s elite all likely to pursue a big-money deal for the England star.

Rogers has been a standout performer for Villa since joining from Middlesbrough in 2024 for an initial €9.4 million and the 23-year-old signed a new contract with Unai Emery’s side last year, tying him to the club until 2031.

However, Villa remain up against UEFA and the Premier League’s financial rules and The Times report that the Midlands side are aware that cashing on Rogers would be the most ‘straightforward’ way to alleviate any economic pressure.

Although Villa have no desire to lose a key figure in Emery’s team, it is suggested that they value Rogers at more than £80m (€91.9m), knowing that the player’s new deal does not contain a release clause.

Their demands are largely based on needing to pay Middlesbrough 20 percent of any profit made – an amount which could be as much as €20m depending on the total fee.

Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea are said to have recently renewed their interest in Rogers, while FootballTransfers has been told that the Red Devils consider him a key target for their summer window.

Rogers open to Aston Villa summer exit with big money approach expected

Rogers has continued to star for Villa this season, having started every Premier League match for Emery’s side and producing eight goals and five assists.

Villa are also aware that Rogers’ value could continue to rise if he stars for England at the 2026 World Cup, having become a regular in Thomas Tuchel’s squad.

Rogers is said to be open to leaving despite having only signing his new deal in November and, while Chelsea remain strong admirers of the playmaker, United and Arsenal could emerge as the strongest contenders for his signature.

Both sides are keen to strengthen at left wing, where Rogers prefers to play, although it remains to be seen whether either team can meet Villa’s asking price or if they prioritise him over other targets such as Anthony Gordon and Yan Diomande.
