Harry Maguire expects Manchester United to be busy in the transfer market this summer as they look to challenge for major honours again next season.
Maguire signed a new one-year contract at Old Trafford earlier this week with an option for United to extend it by another 12 months.
The club are on course to return to the Champions League after moving into third place in the Premier League under Michael Carrick, and Maguire believes United will make some key signings in the summer.
‘I always wanted to be part of a squad I felt could compete,’ he said. ‘The recruitment went well last year, and I think it’s going to be a big summer.
‘I feel like the squad is starting to look strong, but this summer’s going to be really big. We need more players. We need better quality. We need players to come into the starting eleven. We’re not in Europe this year. We’ve played 40 games. We definitely need a bigger squad.

‘I don’t think there’s any ceiling on it. We’ve got to be in the conversation to go and win the big trophies. Come February and March, we don’t want to be adrift like we have been this year.
‘Football is about memories. You can create memories by having iconic matches and scoring goals, but the bottom line is you get memories from winning big trophies.’
