The Kalahari Conference concluded with two final games at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria, as teams wrapped up the Kalahari Conference group phase in South Africa.
In the opening game, Nairobi City Thunder (Kenya) finished their campaign on a high with a 101–92 victory over RSSB Tigers (Rwanda), handing the previously unbeaten Tigers their first loss of the conference.
Derrick Ogechi led the Thunder with 22 points, while Tylor Ongwae added 17 points, six rebounds and seven assists. Antino Jackson Jr. led the Tigers with 24 points and nine assists.
In the final game of the conference, Petro de Luanda (Angola) defeated the Johannesburg Giants (South Africa) 105-61, closing group play with another composed performance.
Javion Blake led Petro with 21 points and nine assists, while Aboubacar Gakou added 18 points and 10 rebounds. Josh Ozabor led the Giants with 19 points. It was the Giants’ fifth consecutive defeat in the competition.
RSSB Tigers, Petro de Luanda, Al Ahly Ly (Libya) and Dar City (Tanzania) advance to the BAL Playoffs in Kigali, Rwanda which will take place from May 22-31 at BK Arena.
With the Kalahari Conference action complete, attention now turns to the Sahara Conference in Rabat, Morocco which will be held from April 24-May 5.
