Trabzonspor of Turkey striker, Paul Ebere Onuschu has declared that he and his teammates will go out fully to win their remaining matches of the season in order to emerge champions of the Turkish Super Lig.

Sports247 gathered that Onuachu is still basking in the euphoria of last weekend’s 2-1 win against Galatasaray, which he believes became possible because his side gave the game everything they could muster.
The lanky hitman went on to reason that being able to defeat Gala at such a crucial stage of the season means Trabzonspor can go all the way to the title, no matter how tough the terrain might be.
While Galatasaray were still without recuperating Victor Osimhen for Saturday’s game, Trabzonspor shot into the lead under four minutes, when Onuachu netted his 22nd goal of the season, thereby staying top of the Super Lig’s leading scorers’ log.
Although Wilfred Singo initially levelled scores three minutes after the restart, Super Eagles’ rookie, Christian Chibuike Nwaiwu got Trabzonspor’s winner off a free-kick by Anthony Nwakaeme, leaving Onuachu and the others upbeat heading into this weekend’s trip to Alanyaspor.
Incidentally, Saturday was a night of double joy for Onuachu, who is eight goals ahead of Basaksehir’s Eldor Shomurodov for the top scorer’s award, as he netted for the first time ever against Galatasaray and he thanked his teammates for making it possible.
The 31-year-old product of FC Ebedie of Sagamu, who previously played for FC Midtjylland of Denmark, Racing Genk of Belgium and Southampton of England, had failed to score against Gala in several matches, but that jinx ended last Saturday.
Onuachu’s header at Papara Park also took his overall goals’ haul for Trabzonspor to 41 across all competitions, since his initial loan spell from Southampton in the 2023/2024 season and impact after his full transfer last summer.
The giant hitman, who is currently sponsoring a community project in Amakohia area of Imo State, has now scored against all top-three elite Turkish clubs, having netted twice in three matches against Fenerbahce and once against Besiktas.
He is now chasing the record for most goals scored by a foreign player in a single Süper Lig season for Trabzonspor, a feat currently held by Shota Arveladze, who hit 25 in the 1995/96 campaign, but Onuachu says it’s about the team first.
“We really fought in front of our fans, and we put everything into winning. We put everything we could into winning, and we won. We’ve got some tough games ahead of us. We’ll go out to win them all. We’ll win and move forward,” Onuachu boasted.
